As recently as July, the Butler Eagle's roundup of 2026 Butler County festivals still had Harmony's Sleepy Hollow Festival down for Oct. 10. The date came and went without it. On Sept. 30, Bottlebrush Gallery confirmed in a post and a matching Experience Butler County listing that there would be "no Sleepy Hollow Festival this year." No published source has given a reason.
Harmony's fall season is still going. It has spread out. One big Saturday has turned into a run of smaller dated nights between now and mid-November, and the most visible new piece comes from the far end of Mercer Street, where a group of business owners decided to build their own evenings.
What the borough had for 13 Octobers
You need to know what Sleepy Hollow was to see what the new events are making up for. According to the Butler Eagle's 2024 coverage, Bottlebrush owner MJ McCurdy started it after wondering why Harmony had no annual fall celebration. It began as a one-day flea-market event and grew to two days. The 2024 edition, the 12th, had more than 30 vendors, a Humane Society fundraiser, a pumpkin race, a costume contest, live music, carriage rides, a strolling magician and a drone demonstration. The 13th edition in 2025 included food, live music, a pet fair at Wood Street Park, carriage rides, and costume contests for children and pets.
That was a full weekend of programming on a single date. Nothing in 2026 replaces it at the same scale. Instead, several organizers are each running something smaller.
Lower Harmony picks two Wednesdays
The newest group on the calendar calls itself "Lower Harmony." The Cranberry Eagle reported on Sept. 28 that business owners formed it to bring more foot traffic to the farthest ends of the borough. Their first project is a pair of evenings called Moonlight Makers and Music, starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and Wednesday, Oct. 28, with shopping, handmade goods and live music.
Seth Murphy, owner of Wunderbar, told the Cranberry Eagle what the group wants:
"We just want to bring some attention down on that end of town."
He said the restaurants will run food and drink specials and that vendors will set up around the borough alongside the businesses. The Experience Butler County listing puts the center of the event at Wunderbar, 253 Mercer St.
Both nights fall midweek. Harmony's fall Saturdays this year belong to Haunted Harmony and, in November, the Harmony Museum's market.
The Mercer Street lineup, by address
The participating businesses are clustered along Mercer Street, and each has its own reason to be worth the stop.
| Business | Address | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Harmony Inn | 230 Mercer St. | 1856 Italianate house turned hotel and saloon; Butler County's first craft-beer bar in 1985 |
| Harmony Emporium | 250 Mercer St. | Shop participating in the October nights |
| Wunderbar | 253 Mercer St. | Specialty coffee, tea, crepes, grilled cheese, soups, wraps and salads |
| Union Brothers Brewing | 270 Mercer St. | Full-service brewpub in a former Moose Lodge since 2024 |
LoHa BoHeme is also part of the group, according to the Cranberry Eagle.
The Harmony Inn has the longest history on the block. Its current operator's history page says the building was Austin Pearce's Italianate home in 1856. A member of the Ziegler family converted it into a hotel and saloon. Over the years it was known as the Ziegler Hotel, the Manor House and the Harmony Hilten, and in 1985 it became Butler County's first craft-beer bar. In April 2023, a caption in the Cranberry Eagle noted it as one of 25 restaurants nationwide chosen for a grant through the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express Backing Historic Small Restaurants initiative.
Union Brothers is the newest building in the group but has been in Harmony for a while. The brewery says it opened as a full-service brewpub in 2020 and moved into the larger former Moose Lodge at 270 Mercer in 2024. It now runs a full kitchen with 20 rotating taps, Pennsylvania spirits and ciders. Its tourism listing describes the menu as scratch-made and locally sourced, with beverages made on site.
Lower Harmony's October started before the Moonlight nights. The Harmony Inn's Spooky Terrarium class on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 6 to 7 p.m., includes ferns, a glass terrarium, spooky décor and one drink. It is already sold out.
Bottlebrush keeps its Saturday
The gallery that ran Sleepy Hollow is still hosting the borough's biggest Halloween day. The 4th Annual Haunted Harmony runs Saturday, Oct. 24, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Bottlebrush Gallery, 539 Main St. It has its own fourth-year track record, separate from Sleepy Hollow's 13-year run, so this year's programming keeps going without the larger festival around it.
The listing packs a lot into five hours:
- Trick-or-treat for kids and costumed adults, plus Vinny's hearse with a real human skeleton
- Ghost tours and feely boxes at the gallery
- Work by the gallery's darkest artists, including Dan Senneway's After Dark, Missy Clark's Baroque Bones and Sally Rung's Rags to Witches
- Dark-fiction author Mike Marcus of Tales That Disturb, new this year
- The returning Creepy Baby Doll Contest, with cash prizes for the creepiest and funniest entries; painted dolls count
The Psychic Vincent Sisters show is ticketed separately, and no tickets are sold at the door. According to the Experience Butler County event page, a $40 ticket covers a 2 p.m. reception at the gallery, a 3 p.m. walking tour of historic-district shops with treats, and a two-hour session with the sisters at 4 p.m. in the historic Schreiber Building.
The same day ties the two ends of town together. Bottlebrush's listing includes the Harmony Inn's annual Halloween party, with live music from The Ease, costume contests for kids, pets and adults, tarot readings from Harmony's Black Cat Tarot, and a seasonal brew. A gallery on Main Street and a bar on Mercer Street are promoting each other's events on the same Saturday.
November goes back to the museum
The season's largest single event is the Harmony Museum's German Christmas Market, the Weihnachtsmarkt. It runs Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 15, from noon to 4 p.m. The museum's event page lists horse-drawn carriage rides, live entertainment, admission, and shuttle parking from four off-site lots. The museum's general calendar page says "There are no upcoming events" even though the market is scheduled, so the event page is the one to check for details.
The full run of dates, Harmony and next door
Put together, here is Harmony's fall alongside the Halloween dates in neighboring Zelienople and Evans City:
- Wednesday, Oct. 14: Spooky Terrarium class, Harmony Inn, 6 to 7 p.m. Sold out.
- Wednesday, Oct. 21: Moonlight Makers and Music, Mercer Street, from 6 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 24: 4th Annual Haunted Harmony, Bottlebrush Gallery, 3 to 8 p.m., plus the Harmony Inn Halloween party.
- Wednesday, Oct. 28: Moonlight Makers and Music, second night, from 6 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 29: Zelienople Merchant Trick-or-Treat, 4 to 6 p.m., with parade registration at 5:30 p.m. behind NexTier Bank and the parade at 6:30 p.m. The same evening, the Evans City Lions Club Halloween parade registers at 5 p.m. on North Washington Street and steps off at 6 p.m. on East Main Street.
- Saturday, Oct. 31: Evans City borough trick-or-treat, 3 to 5 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14 and 15: Weihnachtsmarkt at the Harmony Museum.
That adds up to eight dates over five weeks, three of them on Wednesdays, and two of those organized by businesses that wanted people to see their end of Mercer Street.
When a borough's fall season reorganizes like this, it shows which small businesses are investing in their own blocks. At The Bingham Team, we follow those changes across the Seneca Valley area because they affect how a home in Harmony or Zelienople is described and presented.
